UI and UX design of the Yops® Savings Calculator for EvodiaBio, a Danish bioscience company that creates natural hop aromas for brewers. Built with Bubuku.
The challenge
EvodiaBio makes natural hop aromas for brewers through precision fermentation. Its product, Yops®, replaces part of the hops a brewery uses, at a lower cost and with a smaller footprint. The challenge was to turn a complex spreadsheet into a tool a brewer would want to use, and finish.
The approach
Instead of one question per screen, the calculator adds questions as you go on a single page, grouped in four steps, and the result updates while you type. Brewers mix metric and imperial units, so every field has its own unit dropdown, with suggested values and tooltips for the terms that need explaining. The estimated savings show before anyone leaves an email; the full report comes after, on request.
One page, four steps, and the result updates while you type.
The product
Natural hop aromas, by fermentation
Yops® replaces part of the hops a brewery uses. The calculator had to show, in a brewer's own numbers, what that change means for costs and for the environment.
Brand system
Built on EvodiaBio's colour and type
Hope purple for actions and data, yeast tones for calm surfaces, Buenos Aires for headlines and Open Sans for reading.
Mobile
The same flow, in one column
Made for a brewer checking numbers on the brewery floor: the same four steps, from the first question to the estimated savings.
The report
Free results first
The savings estimate shows before any contact details. The full report comes after, by email and printable: production, financial and environmental impact in tables and charts.
